Decorating idea : Better by Half

Mimic the high ceilings of beautiful Victorian houses in just about any space, by splitting your walls in half! Two-toning your paint job is a great way to give your rooms the illusion of height, lengthening the pesky short walls that seem to come with so many modern houses. The ceiling and top third of the room are reserved for white or cream paint, then the bottom two thirds are yours to play with...

The great thing about half-painted walls is that they give you the opportunity to experiment with bold colours. As a slight colour-phobe I would usually advocate keeping brights off the walls altogether, but if you're only painting at half mast you can afford to be a bit more daring.
