Dulux Colour of the Year 2015

You have to take these predictions with a pinch of salt - just what is a 'colour of the year' anyway?  I try to approach them with a bit of skepticism, but they can be both interesting and quite useful if you work in interiors. I was a bit turned off by the whole Radiant Orchid thing from Pantone last year - for a few weeks Twitter went absolutely crazy with a fairly ugly shade of deep purple. It seemed (to me) like such a dated colour, and didn't remotely reflect the trends I had seen developing for 2014. As Imogen Fox said in this Guardian article, it's all too reminiscent of "the early 2000s when feature walls were painted 'good-taste mauve' in an attempt to jazz up suburban living rooms." Haha.

Anyway, this week saw the announcement of the 2015 'colour of the year' from Dulux, and it's a good one. Copper Blush is a combination of the metallic finishes that were so popular this year, and the warm pinks and oranges that have been spotted at recent global events in Stockholm, Milan and even Shanghai. It is strong enough to stand on its own, but works best when paired with white, neutral greys and (of course!) copper.
